Your personal information

Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal information Mzansi Hub collects, why, who it is shared with and what rights you have under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

Who is responsible for your information?

Mzansi Hub, southafricaloans.co.za, is an independent affiliate publisher run by an editorial team. For the information you give us on this site, we act as the responsible party under POPIA. You can reach us at contact@southafricaloans.co.za.

What personal information do we collect?

When you use an order form on a product page, we collect the name and phone number you type in, together with the product you chose and the page you ordered from. We do not ask for card numbers, bank details or identity numbers on our site.

Like most websites, our servers and hosting providers record standard technical data, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages requested and the time of the request. This is kept in server logs and is used for security and to keep the site working.

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to write in the message.

Why do we use your information?

We use your name and phone number to pass your order to the seller’s call centre so an adviser can phone you, confirm the order and arrange delivery. We use technical data to secure the site, prevent abuse, fix faults and understand in broad terms how the pages are used. We use email messages to answer them and to correct or improve our pages.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use it to build advertising profiles.

Who do we share information with?

Order details (name, phone number and the product chosen) are passed to the seller’s call centre and to the affiliate network that connects us to the seller. They need this to contact you, confirm and deliver the order and to record that the order came from our site. They handle your information under their own processes, and the adviser who calls you can explain how they use it.

We also use hosting and security providers who process technical data on our behalf so that the site can be served and protected. We may disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.

How long do we keep your information?

We keep personal information for as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected and for as long as legal requirements require. When it is no longer needed, we delete it or remove the details that identify you. The seller and the network keep order records under their own retention rules.

Do you use cookies?

We use only the technical storage the site needs to work properly. We do not run advertising cookies and we do not use your information to follow you around the internet. If we add anonymised analytics in future, we will describe it here before it starts.

What are your rights under POPIA?

You may ask us to confirm whether we hold personal information about you, and to give you access to it. You may ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, or to delete information we no longer need or are not allowed to keep. You may object to the processing of your information, and you may withdraw consent you have given where we rely on consent.

To use any of these rights, email contact@southafricaloans.co.za and tell us what you would like us to do. We may need to confirm who you are before we act. For information held by the seller’s call centre or the affiliate network, you can make the same requests to them.

How do we protect your information?

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access. No system is perfectly secure, so we also ask you not to send sensitive details by email.

Do you collect information from children?

Our site is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has sent us information, write to us and we will remove it.

Where can I complain?

Please raise a concern with us first at contact@southafricaloans.co.za so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa), the body that supervises POPIA.

Will this policy change?

We may update this policy when our practices or the law change. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
